“I started with KingFisher in March, 2014. Starting as an assembly tech I moved up to a team lead position. From there I moved into the role of Assembly Supervisor which has changed a couple of times to what is now called the Offshore Production Supervisor position which now included the responsibility off the offshore welding department.”

“I began my career with KingFisher in 2018 after completing a 10-month Administrative program at Okanagan College. I joined the team as a Receptionist, looking after the front office. As an entry-level role, it provided me the best introduction to the company I could ask for, and I quickly learned what made this place tick – it’s the people. It’s always been the people.

It wasn’t long before my role evolved into more support for the Human Resources team, and I found myself spearheading recruitment; using my knowledge of the people, to find those good people to join Team KingFisher.

“I started at KingFisher in December of 2018 as an Assembly Technician then after just over a year I moved into the roll of Rigging Specialist, overseeing all of the engine, controls and electronic installations.  While in the roll of Rigging Specialist the roll adapted to allow me to grow and take on more responsibilities within the company.  From Rigging Specialist I have moved into the roll of Logistics Supervisor and now I have moved into the roll of District Business Manager.  I have been at KingFisher for just over 5 ½ years and look forward to working with the team for many years to come.”

“After applying for an assembly position advertised on social media, and having interviews via Zoom,  KF gave me the opportunity to work as an assembly tech in there assembly department. I started this position in September 2020 after recently moving to the Okanagan from the UK.

On starting as an assembly tech, I spent several weeks training with one of KF’s experienced assembly employee’s. this meant I could work towards taking on tasks by myself, finish the tasks within time and to the standard that was required.

As my knowledge grew opportunities arose such as “build review” inspector, which I put myself forward for and worked towards over a period of 8 weeks. Also a “Team lead” position became available which I applied for in March 2021.  

In April 2021 I was promoted to A line Team Lead, in this position I was responsible for leading three other staff members in the production of our CXP line of boats.

In 2022 KF decided to split the Assembly department in to two departments Small Boats and Offshore assembly. The position arose for a Small Boats assembly supervisor which I applied for and received in July 2022, This is the position I have held to this day.”   

“I started as QC and Warranty Manager in 1998, at the time there were 8 employees so everyone chipped in where needed. Within one week it was identified I could weld aluminum and we needed a welded, so Welding was added to my job duties. As Quality and Warranty manager I dealt with any deficiencies we saw in our products. This led to resolving the issues by working in each department where the problems originated and created a process that removed the deficiency. This was done systematically until the issues were resolved. This led to my promotion to Production supervisor. As the company grew and the numbers expanded, I was promoted the Production Manager. In 2009 a new plant was built and hull manufacturing was brought to BC, doubling the employee count. I was promoted to Operation Manager. In 2029 I plan to retire completing my career with 31 years with Kingfisher.”
